2 chair technique


In the room where you work, get a second chair. Put it in the middle of the room, where it is a little bit rude and in the way.

When it is time to do a task, tell yourself in your work chair or get up and sit in your resting chair. Sitting in the resting chair is not a punishment, it means you don’t want to work and why do you want to do something you don’t want to do? So sit in the resting chair.

Dont bring your phone with you, rest… let your mind run or do some breathing excersises or screthes. Then an amazing thing will happen, you get bored.

Now ask yourself if you want to do the work? You might need to go back and forth between the chairs, but eventually your dopamine levels will drop enough that your reward system will fire while your are working. Then you settle down to do the work.
